about

...it could be said that the greatest of machinery is the hardest to get restarted: a comparison easily drawn to Bloody Mammals, the nearly-forgotten London post-hardcore 4-piece who seemingly disappeared from the face of the earth in late 2014.

Following up their first single (2012’s How Could I Hate You...I Made You / Total Thunder) with a well-received 6 track 10” EP, (2013’s Eventually Your House Will Burn Down) the band wrote a slew of riffy new tracks and set off on tour, gigging across the UK and mainland Europe. Upon returning, they holed themselves up in a secluded north London studio in Summer 2014 and set about recording their first LP. Expectations were high for the first album: not least from the band
themselves. Unfortunately, the desire for self-betterment scattered the members across the continent, making finishing the debut album a gargantuan effort.

It’s now 2018, and this gargantuan, Mammalian effort has finally borne fruit: Bloody Mammals’ debut album What Have You Done? is here: a record built around a narrative of one man’s retreat into his own psyche to escape the depraved horrors of contemporary society, only to find far worse on the inside. A meditation on the darker, bleaker aspects of humankind set to a tailor-made backing track with all of Bloody Mammals’ sonic hallmarks still firmly in place: raw-throated vocals over a grid of intricate yet monolithic riffs; spidery, unpredictable basslines and powerful punk-rock meets prog-rock drumming.
